Taking A Break

After a hard morning of playing at Dollywood,
Daniel stopped for a few minutes to take a well
deserved break with his Aunt Angie.

He was initially striking this pose while sitting
on the asphalt. When I first asked him if he wanted
to sit on the bench with me he said, "No, I can't get
a sun tan over there!" hee hee

After a few minutes of baking in the sun, he decided
to join me in the shade.

We are having a good time on our trip. Check out
Cindy and Cristy's blogs for a few more pictures.

a student again

All semester I've wanted to post a picture of this old student back at DSU, but I didn't have anyone to take the picture. Finally, when Cindy and the boys finished school and Bonnie came to visit, I had a photographer. So, here it is... the picture of me at DSU once again.

I am finally finished with my first semester!!! Yea!!! I had no idea that school work could be so emotionally draining... but it can be. And, I am so glad that it is over for a few months. I managed to make all A's!!! Yea!!! I was pretty excited about that. I was also offered a job for next year in the counseling department. Yea!!! I was pretty excited about that too.

So, everything worked out and the semester finished up on a good note. Now, I am ready to enjoy the summer.

distracted

It has been so long since I have posted anything... and I have been so terribly busy. My life seems to fluctuate between feast and famine, from drought to downpour...

Needless to say, the last month or so has been a time of downpour... too much to do... too little time... too much A.D.D. ... too little ability to focus and concentrate.

It's all winding down now. Just two more days and it will all be over. So, in this moment of no-focusing-ability, I thought I would post a poem for all those other no-focus people in the world. You know who you are... and you know why we never get to sleep. We are always too busy being distracted by the distraction of the moment. We can never get finished with the stuff we need to do because we are always too busy distracting ourselves with stuff that is a little more immediate. We need that little shake from time to time to bring us back to what we need to be doing -- to help us focus.

But, it is almost over for now... two more days... just two more days.

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
by: Robert Frost

Whose woods these are I think I know,
His house is in the village though.
He will not see me stopping here,
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer,
To stop without a farmhouse near,
Between the woods and frozen lake,
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake,
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep,
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
